Self Medical Group's Express Medical Care•Laurens Opens To Patients

Express Medical Care Laurens is Now Open Mon-Fri Noon-8pm, Saturday 11am-5pm, Sunday 9am-5pm

(Greenwood, SC., Jan 22, 2014) Express Medical Care•Laurens, the new urgent care healthcare practice in Laurens County, opened to patients on January 6, 2014. The new physician practice joins Family Healthcare • Clinton and Internal Medicine • Laurens inside Self Medical Center • Laurens at 22580 Highway 76 East and can be reached at (864) 939-1070.

"With the opening of Express Medical Care practice in Laurens County, we are able to provide more healthcare options to the community that are generally less costly than an ER visit," said Jim Pfeiffer, President and CEO of Self Regional Healthcare.  "Self Medical Center • Laurens now provides a home for primary care, specialty care, internal medicine and urgent care all in one convenient location."

Express Medical Care•Laurens will treat individuals who need to see a healthcare provider for issues that require medical treatment, but do not require Emergency Care. The office will be open Monday through Friday from noon until 8 p.m; Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m; and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. No appointment is necessary, and walk-ins are welcome. The practice also offers EKG, X-ray and laboratory services to patients.

Rohn Allega, MD who will be working at Express Medical CareSelf Regional already has an established Express Medical Care practice in Greenwood on Hwy. 72 and will be using that same care model to treat patients in Laurens County.

"Urgent care facilities fill a critical role in delivering healthcare to the community," said Rohn Allega, M.D., a physician who will be working at Express Medical Care. "People who need healthcare on the weekends or after most physician offices are closed, generally seek care at the ER. However, an Emergency Room visit is designed to care life-threatening injuries such as a chest pains or uncontrolled bleeding or severe injury. Urgent care focuses on delivering the appropriate level of care with the appropriate level of resources and is generally much quicker and less expensive than an ER."
