Self Regional Awarded Gold for "Working Well" Employee Wellness Program

Self Regional gold medal for employee wellness
Self Regional Healthcare CEO Jim Pfeiffer accepts the Gold Medal Award on behalf of the organization, from Emily O'Sullivan of the South Carolina Hospital Association (SCHA).

(Greenwood, S.C., April 4, 2016) - Self Regional Healthcare received the Gold Medal Award for participation in the South Carolina Hospital Association's Working Well initiative, a program launched with a grant from the Duke Endowment to support South Carolina Hospitals in their efforts to execute wellness policies and healthy work environments for team members.

To qualify for the award hospitals must develop a "Physical Activity and Wellness During Work Hours" policy, which promotes team member health, well-being and safety through daily activity. The Working Well initiative helps hospitals develop effective policies based on the three pillars of workplace wellness: tobacco free environments, delicious and healthy food options and access to physical activity throughout the workday.

Self Regional allows paid break time and flexible hours for team members to be active at work through activities like chair and desk exercises, walking breaks, and exercise facilities at or near worksites. Through health education and communication with team members, lost productivity rates, preventable disease risk, and poor employee health decrease.

The Gold Medal Award is given to recognize the dedication set forth by organizations to maintain and promote the health of their team members. Self Regional Healthcare is one of only 88 organizations nationwide to have earned this honor.
